Description
Who was Emanuel Swedenborg? In this interview, Curtis Childs will share how the unusual spiritual experiences of an 18th-century scientist have survived and gathered a following that is currently more relevant than ever before. We will learn how Swedenborg’s teachings helped Curtis recover from depression and how they are helping many others to understand spirituality in new ways.
In the mid-1700s Emanuel Swedenborg experienced a spiritual awakening. Over the next 30 years, he documented his experiences and what he learned from the angels who guided him. His descriptions of the afterlife closely align with the reports of near-death experiencers.
Raymond Moody wrote about Emanuel Swedenborg’s spiritual experiences in his famous book, “Life After Life” which coined the term “near-death experience.”
—- About Curtis Childs —-
Director of Off The Left Eye B.A. in Communications, Oakland University While obtaining his degree in communication studies from Oakland University, Curtis experienced an internal battle with depression that led him to question God and his lifelong interest in Swedenborgian theology. After a period of intense suffering, he recovered from his depression with the help of modern medicine, therapy, and a return to the spiritually uplifting messages he found in Swedenborg’s writings. Now, Curtis is applying his education and desire to help others find peace through Swedenborg’s insights by producing and hosting this weekly webcast. He’s happiest when he can use Swedenborg’s concepts to help someone solve something they used to think was unsolvable. Curtis has been a speaker at several conferences including TCCHE and IANDS (2019).
