What happens when a person dies – especially if that person lived a self-centered life? What do second chances and spiritual growth look like in the afterlife? Although not a near-death experiencer (NDEr) himself, Sheldon Lawrence answered those questions in his book Heaven Will Find You by consulting hundreds of NDEs.
Experiencer Tricia Barker considers Sheldon’s book to accurately depict not only aspects of her own NDE but also what she knows from talking with many other NDErs.
In this event, Tricia and IANDS President Jan Holden will interview Sheldon about how he prepared to write his book; surprises and challenges he encountered along the way; and how accurately he, personally, believes his book depicts the afterlife. Sheldon Lawrence, PhD, earned his doctorate in English, specializing in the literature of spiritual transformation. He has written for various magazines and literary journals and has won multiple awards for creative non-fiction. He teaches college English and lives with his family in Idaho.

Janice Miner Holden, EdD, LPC-S, ACMHP, after 31 years on the University 
of North Texas faculty, retired in 2019 as professor emerita of Counseling. Beginning with her doctoral dissertation, Jan’s primary research focus has been counseling implications of near-death experiences, after-death communication, and other transpersonal experiences—those that transcend the usual personal limits of space, time, identity, and influence. In this research area she has numerous refereed journal publications, books and book chapters, national and international presentations, and awards and honors. Since 2020 she has served as president of the International Association for Near-Death Studies.
